Bernard Marx and Helmholtz Watson, two dissidents charged with speaking out against the government, are sent to two separate island paradises to live out their days in peace. Sounds awful. A riot in the book is quelled by dispersing HALLUCINOGENS throughout the crowd. People KILL for fixes like that these days. Forgive me, but are critics so fixated on their own civil rights that they can glaze over the fact that almost every other society of such alleged "evil" placates their rioters with hot lead instead of LSD? The Falkland Islands is a nice locale, if you were wondering, nice enough to start a war or two. Soviet Gulags, incidentally, are not. True totalitarian dictators DO NOT SEND POLITICAL DISSENTERS ON ALL-EXPENSES PAID VACATIONS ON STATE MONEY. Say what you will about the social implications, but the body count looks much lower from here.
